Can I skip levels or apply directly for a
higher-level DASCA certification?

Data Science Council of America (DASCA) certifications are not designed as a mandatory
step-by-step ladder. Candidates are not required to progress sequentially through certification levels and may apply directly for a certification that aligns with their current role, experience, and demonstrated readiness.

DASCA certification levels reflect expected scope of responsibility and professional judgment. Entry-level certifications are intended for individuals building foundational capability, while senior and advanced certifications assume deeper responsibility, applied decision-making, and experience operating in complex data environments.

Where accelerated or alternate entry pathways exist, such as for students and alumni of DASCA recognized or accredited programs, these pathways are intended to acknowledge prior preparation while preserving assessment rigor. Final certification outcomes are determined through evaluation, not eligibility pathway alone.

Candidates are encouraged to apply for the certification that best reflects the level at which they currently operate rather than defaulting to a lower level. At the same time, attempting a certification examination that assumes responsibilities beyond a candidate’s current role, experience, or readiness may not be appropriate, even if baseline eligibility criteria are satisfied.
